15 Years Ago, Where Were You?

Do you remember what you were doing 15 years ago today?

I was living in Panama City, Panama, in hotel to be exact.  We were on our way to move to Miami, Florida.  We ate dinner and went to a movie with our friends Bo and Zania.  Why do I remember this and why should you care?

15 years ago today the beloved Princess Diana died in a horrific car accident.  I remember coming home(yes in the military you call hotel’s home) and turning on the TV to CNN and seeing pictures of it for the next 5 hours!

I loved Princess Diana and everything she stood for.  She was beautiful, graceful, and the charity work she did was AMAZING!

I remember being glued to the TV for her funeral and watching Price William and Prince Harry walking behind casket and wiping away the tears.

It is one of days in our lives that we will always remember of what we were doing when you heard that horrible news like 9/11, Oklahoma City Bombing, or the Space Shuttle explosion.

So do you remember what you were doing?

I do not remember where I was, but I do remember being astonished at how people responded to her death. It was like she was headed for sainthood.

And what had she really done with her life? Married into royalty and had a rough marriage…welcome to the real world.

Mother Teresa died less than a week later and it was a blip on the radar even though she had given her entire life to serving other people. I felt like the hero worship of Diana was a bit much.

    Just my opinion, of course!

I am afraid I don’t remember. I must have been in college in FL but I honestly can’t picture how I heard about it.

I think I was at home and saw it all on TV but I was also only 9 years old so I don’t think I really understood the situation.
