A Visit to….Gdansk and Gdynia, Poland

A Visit to….Gdansk and Gdynia, Poland

This weekend was a fun-filled one for me and the girls!  Bright and early Saturday morning the girls and I head up to the northern part of Poland to Gdansk.  I was asked to be a guest speaker at an American themed event that being hosted at a local apartment community.  Also a new hotel Golden Tulip, opened up this week in Gdansk and the company owns both the hotel and apartment community, so I stayed there and will be doing a review of the new BEAUTIFUL hotel in the next few days.

I happened to be Gdansk last week to drop a friend off at the airport and saw a sign promoting this….

The girls are just a wee bit excited.

If you have never been to this, YOU NEED too!  All 3 of the girls enjoyed it and so did I. I have tried to go this a few other times in different cities but never have been able to until now.  It is on the expensive side to get in but so worth it. You could not take pictures inside it, so hence the reason why I have no pictures on the inside.  I can say it was interesting!

Then it was off to get a quick bite to eat. There was a mall next to the exhibit so we quickly walked over there to get some food.  It was not just a mall, it was a HUGE mall!  I was back in America for a bit.

Then to the hotel to change clothes for the reason why we were there. We headed off to an apartment complex that was doing a community event with the theme “America.”  I was there to talk to people if they had questions about the US and give quick talk about some special facts about the US.   They also had face painting, food and few other activities.

Facepainting time.

Cupcake time. It is funny that they are refered to muffins not cupcakes. So I had teach them the difference between the 2.

We had some American themed tattoos at home so I brought them along to hand out. I think they were hit with the kids.

This is part of the apartment complex. I easily could have a summer apartment here!

Then it was time to get some dinner.  While we were driving to the city center to find a place to eat, by luck I drove past a mexican restaurant that we ate at several weeks ago while we were in Gdansk for a volleyball game.  The girls recognized it right away, so guess where we ate at?

Cheese nachos!!

IMGP2099

Bean burrito and fajitas!

Then we went to the Sopot and checked out the pier.  But you will have to wait until my Sopot post about that.

But Sunday brought more adventures in Gdynia and Gdansk.  First up, Gdynia.

If you like ice cream, you will be in heaven here at the beach. Every other stand is ice cream!

They even had people walking around selling popcorn, nuts, ice cream and corn on the cob. They had to be making a good amount as there was no food places around us. There was 2 places about a 5 minutes walk but I waited for 20 minutes at one of them for 2 orders of french fries and then I gave up and walked away. I did not prepay for them so I just gave them my number back and said no thank-you as there was 8 people's orders still in front of mine!
