Last Friday night was a HUGE success for a fundraiser for the local orphanage that I was organizing with the help of one my most amazing friends!
Like I mentioned in a post last week, I was totally excited for the night. My whole Thursday & Friday consisted of this….
The prep work before the auction is always so much fun. Here the are making pretty gift certificates to go with the vouchers we got from SEVERAL restaurants here in Bydgoszcz.
You think we got a few vouchers from local businesses?
Here some friends are labeling and numbering our auction items.
We special ordered a few Polish pottery pieces with some money donations we got as these are always a good items too have. This one finally got here the day before the auction and unfortunately not in one piece but more like 6+pieces.
I think this was one of the more stressful parts of putting the night together. Picking out the perfect napkin. This whole wall is just napkins in this store in town!
I managed to super-glue it together the pottery dish for display purposes for the auction. They are going to make me a new one but it would not make it here for another 2 to 3 weeks for the highest bidder.
Time to set up for the auction! Fun part of trying to figure what to put where on the tables. “How many items to we have and how many tables?” 60 items and 6 tables!
The blank canvas that we are about to make all pretty!
I would have been lost without the help of my friends with this!
Getting the bid sheets in order.
I think we are finally finished! Time to go get the kids from school, get changed into a new outfit and get ready for an AMAZING night.
When I got back the DJ was already setting up. I am speechless on how WONDERFUL he was! DJ Kabi -THANK YOU!!! He gave me a great deal for his service that night and if you are in the Bydgoszcz area, this is the guy you need to book for your next party!
The restaurant staff getting the tables ready for the night. We did this years event at Restaurant Telimena. Once again, they were WONDERFUL to work with and an absolute pleasure to deal with. I have worked with several places here in town and they are one of the best here in town! I see in my future working with them again.
The final preparations before guests arrive. My husband and my partner in crime quick going over the final details on the auction items.
The old city Vice President (yes, politics are crazy here, one day he his VP and then all of the sudden he is not) anyways…he organized a local dancing group to do a show for us during the cocktail hour. One word describes them WOW!
These kids can dance and sing!
These guys just went on and on…..
and then did this…
that turned into this!
The girls were just as amazing!
The voices these kids were just heavenly! Want to see and hear them? Click HERE to see my YouTube video of one of their songs.
Unfortunately these 3 guys were in back playing the lovely music so we did not get to see them. I could have listen to them for hours.
I think everyone just enjoyed the show.
Back in the day when I was that young I could do that too! NOT, I would be flat on my face if I tried that.
This 30+ minute show was absolutely breath taking! I so appreciate them donating their time and talent to help make the Charity Night success!
After the show it was time to eat! I had no idea where to start eating. The food was one of the best dinners I have had here in Bydgoszcz! I look forward to many more dinners there.
Now with full stomachs, time to get serious on bidding and dancing started. The auction was a HUGE SUCCESS!! I am so grateful for the amazing friends that came and supported the orphanage with their money they spent!
Unfortunately all good things must come to an end.
Yes, I got my share of auction items! Dancing lessons, photo sessions, restaurant & beauty salons vouchers are just a few of the items we came home with. It was for the kids, right?
So how did we do for the orphanage at the end of the night? My goal was 6,000 zloty but after it was all totaled up we did just under 5,800 zloty!! 200 zloty short of my goal but I am not complaining. The support from friends and co-workers and local business was absolutely AMAZING!!!
I want to say THANK YOU to the following business for their donations to the auction….
Fabryka Tanca Dance Studio
Studio Pod Labedziem
Kuchnia Bar & Resturant
Ristorante del Mercato
Primo Ice Cream Palor
Greiss Beauty Salon (located inside Tesco)
Restaurant ZA PIECEM
They are AWESOME! They all now have my business while I live here and I hope they have yours if you live here or come to visit Bydgoszcz!
The Charity Night was WONDERFUL, AMAZING, ASTONISHING, HUMBLING and list goes on it was just that AMAZING! I can’t wait until next year and I get to do it all over again!
