Boleslawiec Polish Pottery Festival Day 1

Oh I have no words for how AWESOME my weekend was!  I went with another friend to the annual Polish Pottery Festival in Boleslawiec, Poland.  This festival is 5 days of ceramics, concerts, parades, exhibits, handi-crafts, antique market and a carnival.

We went first thing Saturday morning and came home Sunday evening.  I had never been to this before so I was totally excited for this weekend!  I have a friend here who grew up in Boleslawiec and still has all her family there and she said this was a must for me while I live here in Poland.

Most everything that I had found about the festival was in Polish so I wasn’t sure quite what to expect this weekend.  We headed out Saturday morning at 05:00 for our 4 hour drive south.  It is AMAZING how quick that 4 hour drive is was when you are with a friend and have no kids in the car and you talk just about everything!

This festival was beyond my expectations.  Back in my high school days I would say this was “totally rad.”  I cannot put in words how fun this weekend was so I will let my pictures do the taking.  I am going to apologize now for all the pictures in this post and if took a long time to load but there was that much going on during the festival.

So here is Boleslawiec Polish pottery festival day 1…

Let the shopping begin! Andy's was fully stocked and ready for all the shoppers.

Love all the country houses.

I love driving through the country and looking at houses.

Next stop, one of my favorite shops...Andar's! Where is all the pottery?? They took the majority of their inventory to festival as they had a stall in it. Luckily a few of the pieces that I needed he had there and the rest would be at the festival.

Since we were the only ones there we were able to a personal tour of how him and his wife make their pieces from start to finish.

Then a quick stop to Bolowski studio to check out their 2014 line. These 2 pieces were my big purchase for the weekend.

Parking was a bit tricky this weekend by Artistika. This area was right next to it and I got lucky and was able to pull into a spot because there was 2 young gentleman pointing to a open spot. It is not uncommon to see them offering to watch your car for you and to offer to wash your windows or even wash car. I have no problem playing them a few zlotys as at least they are working for the money instead of just begging for it.

This the CRAZY line in Artizska that we walked into. I love the pottery here so it was worth the wait for me. The positive waiting in that long of a line...after I finished shopping on the right hand side and then when I got in line on the left hand side I could do some serious digging while I waited.

They also had this lady who would quickly custom stamp a mug for you. Unfortunately you won't be to really use as a mug since there is no glaze on it but it is still neat.

Have you been to the festival before?  What insider tips do you have for me for next years trip?

Wow, wow, wow! Thank you for your amazing blogs. I had to miss the fest this year, but it is a priority for next. If I plan a trip in Oct., would it be restocked? Thank you Kelley, I really hope to meet you someday. Can’t wait for your next post. :)

    • Yes! Sunday when we went to a few stores they all had a good selection. You could even go there this week and still get a nice selection. They stocked up a head of time and was totally prepared for the festival and all of us crazy shoppers.
