The Many Faces of the Bydgoszcz Zoo

Today “A” and I headed over to the zoo in town for a sheep shearing demonstration they were doing with the sheep they have in the zoo.  Since we were all ready at the zoo, we walked around for bit even though the weather is a bit on the cold side today.

The animals where in a good mood today, so I got some fun pictures of them!

These birds can be noisy.

This cat looks like it would be super soft but I am not sure if I would want to put my hand in the cage to find out.

I loved watching these birds fly when we were back in US when we were up in the mountains of Montana.

Not sue if I should feel guilty looking at them and thinking what a good roast that would make for dinner.

I love to watch the moose too. It reminds me of a summer I spent canoe in the upper north of Canada when I was a kid.

So besides getting some great shoots of the animals today I got this great shoot too of “A”

"A" and her new friend!

“A” and her new friend!

Yep, she is just like her mother and can make friends anywhere!

This friendship started with the 2 of them talking right here at this moment. Who would imagine this would lead to the next 2 hours of them just talking and playing with each other non-stop?

And so it begins, a great friendship. Yet another reason putting them in a Polish school and learning Polish is a blessing to us.

"A" showing her new friend where all of her family is all over the world. Her friend said she had only been to one country in her life, Poland. It is interesting how I can having family and travel all over the world for granted.

It is AMAZING how quickly kids can become friends!

Not sure who was having more fun here, them or the kangaroo.

Her new friend was there with her mom too, so needless to say by the end of those 2 hours together she and I became friends too.  Yes, we had a bit of language barrier between the 2 of us, we still managed to have some neat conversations.  We exchanged numbers to try to connect up again as we had that much fun with them!

And all good things must come to an end and say "Good=Bye."

What your favorite animal to watch?

Picture does not show bison but wisent or “żubr” which is native to eastern Poland.

    Hi ya!
It’s the weird guy who commented ages ago about getting ready to start adopting from Poland. Only now it’s not completely hopes and prayers – we actually have an agency and are working through the process!

Is the sheep with the 4 horns a Jacob’s sheep? My uncle used to keep them. They’re an Old World heritage breed and legend says that they’re descended from the sheep that Jacob bred after making the deal with Laman that he could keep all the piebald sheep that were bred in Genesis. I used to love them and he even had one with six horns.

    • Hey!! Not a clue what kind of sheep/goat that is. Everything is in Polish. That would be awesome if they were descendants from Laban era. I won’t look at them same again now.

Good luck on the adoption and if you need ANYTHING let me know!

    Whoops, Laban not Laman!

Witam Kelly! Super blog, piękne zdjęcia. Nasze córki wyglądają na bardzo szczęśliwe, że się poznały! Fajna była zabawa z Wami w Zoo! Pozdrawiamy Asia i Julia z Bydgoszczy

Do zobaczenia Asia
