My Inner Martha Came Out Yesterday!

Well the weather is cooling down, the heat is kicking on so that must mean one thing…Fall is officially here!

To help get in the mood I needed to get the front doorway decorated in the fall spirit.  Being here in Poland they don’t really celebrate Halloween nor have I seen a lot of fall decorations, so I had to let my inner Martha Stewart come out.

A couple of months ago I went to an antique/flea market in the city of Torun with some friends and I found an old wood rake that I thought I could come up something creative to use it for and it was only 20 zlotys!

Then a few days ago the stores started putting out lots of artificial flowers to get ready for a special holiday here in November(stay tuned that will be a neat blog post) so my creative juices started working and then I saw the perfect fall themed leaves I knew what I was going to do!

So here is what I started with….

Then I took the flowers and taped them one by one on to the rake.   The orange ribbon was then tied around to cover the tape.  5 minutes later the rake looked like this…

And as you can see I found pumpkins here in Poland too!  I am so excited.

So what do you do to welcome fall?

love kelley

What is Fall without decorations and even worse, without pumpkins!?

You have to take on giving away favorite North American variety pumpkin seeds in spring. Some great varieties like Big Max, Ghost Rider, Magic Lantern, Jack Be Little or my personal favorite – Jarrahdale which is an Australian heirloom pumpkin. Not sure which grows best in Poland since most of the country is some 52 degrees north of the equator. That’d be interesting to look into. Love your fall decorations. Is that rake used for a specific chore? A hay rake maybe? LMK if you decide on a pumpkin seed distribution, be happy to send you seeds.

    • The one thing I miss about the US is having a garden. Our house really has not much of a back yard, we were only able to plant 2 tomato plants!! They sell lots of seeds here if only only I had place to plant them!! But thanks for the offer!! You are correct the rake is an old hay one.

You did a very nice job turning the rake into a pretty decorative piece.
