Our 1st Polish Swim Meet
During the excitement of our move last week I had to have a mandatory morning off from packing because my youngest was in a swim meet. Over this school year she has just blossomed with her swimming skills because of her weekly swimming lessons she has been taking.
My son was competitive swimmer and my oldest daughter enjoyed swimming so it is my kids DNA I guess. I used to coach swim teams when we lived in St. Louise, Miami and when we lived in The Netherlands. In my previous life I also was a swimming teacher and a national trainer for the YMCA so I was in complete heaven this morning. I did not realize how much I missed coaching swim team and as well as teaching swimming lessons! I wonder if there is a need for English speaking swimming lessons here in Bydgoszcz? My girls have an AMAZING teacher at a local pool they go to here where the teachers speak some English but for the most part they speak Polish but my girls understand enough to know what to do and I can see it is working!
One of the local kindergarden school organized a small little swim meets for kids in the city. A friend of mine asked if I would be interested in signing my daughter up and so I asked her and for the next 3 weeks all I heard was “Is today the swimming race?” She was a wee bit excited for the day!
I think she had a GREAT morning swimming in her first swimming race. She got really excited when she got her medal for participating and for the next 3 days she showed it to anyone and everyone. I have a hunch I need to find a local swim team this fall for her and my other daughter.
Are you a swimmer? If so, what is your favorite stroke? I love to swim but I do not do it very often but I could breaststroke for hours!
