In my last post, I mentioned I was helping putting together a charity auction for a local orphanage here in Bydgoszcz where I live. Well it is 2 days later and I am finally caught on my sleep from the GREAT event so now to quick tell you how the dinner went.
WELL…..The event was AMAZING!!!!! We raised about 3,000 zlotys(imagine $3,000 by US standards) for the orphanage. My goal was 2,000 zlotys so this far exceeded my goal. We were all doing the happy dance when went and added all the totals up. I think everyone had a good time and the silent auction was new to many of the guest there but by the end of the night they were catching on to it and having a good time out bidding each other.
One of the reasons why it was a great success is because I had a great lady named Jana helping me organize this event. I would not have been able to do it without her. Also the restaurant NUVO was amazing as well with all the last minutes details that I added as well as the AMAZING for chef Patrick and his crew cooked for us.
I had an AMAZING night and I cannot wait for the 2nd annual charity auction next year!
Here a FEW pictures from that night.
- The big decision going on here, to add walnuts to the chestnuts or not?
- Jana, got a hold of my camera and got of pic of me at work!
- These items were made by the kids and put up for raffle.
- Just a few of the items the orphanage had up for auction.
- And some more items.
- The kids made flowers for everyone there to say thank you for supporting them.
- And the guests arrive.
- Now this looks like a happy group! No, here they are thinking what items they wanted to bid on.
- Here is the coordinator giving us a little speech about the orphanage and one of the great wives who translated for us.
- The restaurant crew hard at work for us getting our dinner ready!
- Time to eat!!
- We ate food like this….
- and like this(octopus- my first time ever eating it and it wasn’t bad)…
- and like this(first time eating cow tongue too and this was AMAZING)!
- The guest enjoying their meals.
- The we had a great dessert bar to end the night.
- The charity coordinators hard at work selling raffle tickets.
- Looks like everyone is having a good time.
- The end of the night. Everyone took their auction items they won and then it was clean up time.
- The restaurant even had a disco ball in the room. I need to figure out an event we can hold there again so we can use the disco ball!!!
What was you last fun night out?

Congratulations on a successful auction! I have no doubt all your hard work and dedication is what made the event so successful
I love how you guys incorporated the children in the evening, as well. That’s a sweet touch
