Want to know what dessert “A” my 6 year-old(soon to be 7) loves to bake?
The other week we had our church missionaries over for dinner and “A” wanted to cook dessert. This apple dessert is so easy that it is perfect for her to bake. If I make it, in less than 3 minutes it is in the oven so it is perfect if you happen to have surprise guests.
Time to cook…Apple Pastry Bars (Ciasto Francuskie z Jablkami)
This is all you need…2 sheets of puff pastries and a jar or 2(depending how much you like) of apple pie filling.
First, light grease the pan.
Unroll the pastry sheet on to the baking sheet.
Smooth out the pastry sheet and poke a few holes. “A” had a bit of fun with the fork on this one.
Spread the apple filling around
Be careful no to spread the filling all the way to the edges as you will need to seal the pastries together.
Now add another pastry sheet on top of the filling.
Is this not the easiest dessert ever! “A” loves making this.
Seal the edges with either a fork or your fingers like we did.
As steam will build up in it, make a few cuts of the top off of the pastry.
The masterpiece is ready to be baked.
Time to put it in the oven for about 15-20 minutes for our pastries or what is listed on your package directions for the pastry.
I think its done! When you get the nice golden brown you know it’s perfect.
After it cools down it will look like this, so don’t worry if it changes it’s perfectly normal.
What dessert would be complete without frosting? For a quick glaze, I take some powered sugar and just a bit of milk and stir until a smooth consistency not super thick as you want to just drizzle it. For a hint of flavor I also add just a bit of vanilla extract.
Then just drizzle over the dessert.
Does this not look heavenly?
Now find a group of hungry missionaries and you are ready to make some people very happy!
So if you need the perfect go to dessert for friends coming over, this it! It doesn’t get much easier. We even have tried this with strawberry pie filling and it was just good.
What is your favorite dessert to make when guests come over?
