Time I dread the most

Well what have I been up to the last 2 and half days in between holiday parties, school activities and life in general? The time I dread the most about living in Poland, applying for our “Resident Card” to live here in Poland.  Just like Polish people living in the US they have to apply for Visa’s and/or Green Cards, we have to do the same here in Poland.  The cards are only good for 2 years, so every 2 years we have to go through this until we hit the 5 year mark and then we do something else which is much easier!

Now the application itself is not that bad but it is all the documents you have to submit to prove this and that which is the pain in the behind!  Oh, then you have to have 5 copies of everything and then when you have a big family like mine that means 25 copies of everything, GOOD TIMES!!

Our dining room table that has turned into my desk for all the paperwork. My Polish-English dictionary to make sure I spell everything right was my best friend the other day.

I think just a few trees were harmed in photocopying all the documents they need.

Don't we all just look like happy campers in our pictures?

So far I am up to 2 visits this city hall building. Here is to trip #3 today is the charm!

I think I am finally finished and ready for today.

I think I am finally finished and ready for today after writing for 6 hours and 2 hours of photocopying!

The other fun part in all of this, just about every time we go in they find this wrong or I need to write this on the application(of course after I already made the 25 copies), so it always a fun time!

When we applied for our first ones 2 years ago, I think I went back 6 times for this piece of paper or that piece of paper over 2 months it took us to finally get the letter in the mail stating our cards were ready to be picked up.

Here is to hoping that my 3rd time is a charm this morning and that I can finally submit all the paperwork and that I will be out of their office in less than 2 hours!

Are you an expat that lives here in Poland? How many times did you have to go back to get your application finalized?

Ha, how funny, I’m just in a process of getting my US residency to be non conditional (it was conditional for 2 yrs since me and my husband weren’t married full 2 yrs before I moved here). I must say, it wasn’t that much paper work! But it did take a $590 “bribe” (aka application fee). I just had to go get my biometrics taken and now waiting. Hopefully they won’t wait until my green card expires to tell us that they don’t actually believe that we are married lol
