Here we go….
Efteling is an amazement park not quite in the middle of The Netherlands. I L-O-V-E the characters from this park. They are very popular in the Dutch culture. It is based on the old fairy tales but with a spin from a famous Dutch artist Alton Peck. I have always dreamed of going here but with many things in life you just get too busy. So when we lived in The Netherlands we never made it there but on this trip, this was our big splurge for the week! And in the end it was so worth it. I am kicking myself we never did this earlier. While it is not Disney World but nor is Euro Disney but I would go this place over Euro Disney any day. We went on a Wednesday and it was perfect the lines where small since it was midweek. The longest we waited for a ride was 15 minutes but many of them had no line. I was talking to some Dutch friends and during busy times they would wait up to an hour and half to ride 1 ride. I guess we got really lucky that day.
We are almost here!
Oh my, the parking is a bit tight but no worries I will get my big ole’ US mini van in!
The admission prices but the best deal was for an additional 30 euros you got a 3 month pass! Next time I will order them online and save 4 euro a ticket.
After you enter the park, you will see this cart with the park maps. They have them in Dutch, German and English. I would high recommend you stop and get one. Oh and they are FREE!!
The neat ATM machine. It makes noise and has hidden surprise windows for kids.
Forgot your stroller? No problem. They have these pull-carts you can rent.
First up, fairy tale forest. I think she likes it.
These are the garbage baskets they have throughout the park. Cute huh?
Hansel and Gretel at the candy house. They moved, made noise and such.
Love the design of these houses. They come from one of my favorite artist Alton Peck who was a Dutch artist.
This was a clock area that played music on the hour.
The magic mirror.
They had a puppet show too. It was in Dutch but my kids didn’t care, they still enjoyed it.
Fairy tale area done, off to the next area.
Hungry? No worries as there are food places within 3 minutes of walking throughout the entire park! Every kind of food you can possible imagine or want to eat.
It was a bit on the warm side but the girls found an area to cool off for a bit.
I need to get this job. I would be in shape in no time.
Time to a sugar pick me up, so mini doughnuts it was.
They have a train you can ride throughout the park.
Woo Hoo, E is tall enough to go on the roller coasters! Luckly my friend likes roller coasters she could do them together, as I HATE roller coasters!!
Mom, we went upside down 4 times!
The double wooden roller coaster. E loved this one!
The haunted roller coaster ride. The line was a bit long on this one but so worth it!!
They even have carnival games to play.
The water rapids! Let’s say we did this one a few times. With only a 10 minute wait, why not do it over and over again?
Someone is excited to be going again!
Look no waiting again!
One of the other types of garbage containers they have throughout the park. It talks and tells you to feed him your garbage and when you do, it says something else.
Watermelon time. For 1 euro a slice you can not pass that up.
Deep fried potatoes. I need to try this at home!
Pirate ship. I hate heights but E wanted to go on and she is to little too go by herself(according to me) so I sucked it up and did it. I hate every minute of it but she loved every minute of it and had her hands up the entire time.
No line, perfect!!
The view from the top.
The girls feeding the ducks granola bars that I had.
How can I not want to feed them?
Love this picture!
I could handle this view everyday. This is from the boat ride in the lake that they have.
Their version of the spinning tea cup ride. You think the girls liked it? They did it 3 or 4 times I think.
My own fairy tale house!
Beautiful flowers throughout the park.
We were late for this show and they close the gates to it so we out of luck. But it was with horses, knights and such. Oh, well more time for rides!
This was a neat ride as it was all in the dark but lots of lights and magical fairies and trolls. But, the picture taking no so good.
Go early for a good spot. We got there with 10 seconds to spare and all the spots were pretty much gone. I would hate to see what it would be like if the park was really busy.
The AMAZING water show. It would be so cool if it was dark out.
I could feel the heat all the way from there.
Need a souviner? Do not wait to closing like we did, CRAZINESS!! You can purchase souvenirs throughout the park throughout the day and they will deliver them to the the mail gate and so when you leave you can pick them up there where you are done for the day.
Time to go home!
My wonderful friend and I. We are all smiles in the beginning and we were all smiles even at the end.
I had a blast that day not only with 2 of my girls but also with a dear friend! So if you ever make it to that area of the world, I would HIGHLY recommend you put Efteling on your bucket list.
What is your favorite ride? Me, I loved the water rapids!!
