I think I have had thee most calmest weekends in my house in a VERY, VERY long time. No, it is not because my 17 year old daughter was away for the weekend on a trip but because I had 6 20′somethings watch TV with me all weekend. I know some of you it my not sound appealing to you but it was heaven to me! Why was it heaven? Well it was that time of year for our semi-annual church conference based out of Salt Lake, Utah. We listened to 5 different 2 hour session via the internet listening to different church leaders give some AMAZING talks.
What a great weekend it was!!
Saturday night was pizza night for us! 4 XL pizza and there was nothing left by the end of the night.
I love these kids! The boys bought me flowers for my birthday and the girls made cookies!
Sunday, was a bit longer day so I had to keep the younger ones attention. I saw this neat idea on another blog about putting snacks in different containers and when listening to the talks if you heard the word that goes with that container you can take a piece out. This worked great for the first hour for each of the sessions but the 2nd hour not so much but hey, an hour is better than nothing!
Yes there was a bit of gaming playing going on while watching. But she heard the magic words to get a treat!
Even the dog was getting into it.
In between 2 of sessions on Sunday, I had them whip up some dinner(I buy the food, they have to cook it). Mexican is not very popular here in Poland for some crazy reason, so taco’s were on the menu tonight.
“If my mom saw me know, she would kill me!” Excuse me, but is there going to be cheese that you grated left for the tacos?
This is what allergies will do to you when you don’t tell someone that you are allergic to dogs! Thank goodness for Claritin allergy medicine, I have stock piled here at the house.
Time to eat!
This is what to many tacos and sweets will do to you.
Paying the price for eating that 1 more taco.
1 more session to watch, so some sugar was called for. Rice Krispy treats to the rescue.
So this is what we looked like on Saturday and Sunday. Notice, no curtains? I have bought and returned 5 different sets. The one hanging up is going back too. Why is curtain shopping so hard?
Since my computer does not HDMI cables to hook it up on the big TV for the live sessions this is how we watched it with computer speakers attached to it. The one’s that were shown while we sleeping, luckily I could download and put on a USB stick and hook it up to the big TV.
“E” and one of Sister missionaries going over some Polish stuff, that I do not have a clue about!
What a fun way to spend my birthday weekend than with the 6 wonderful kids.
Now, what was it exactly we were watching? General Conference is what it is called. I guess you could compare it to when Catholics listen to the Pope and his Easter Sunday mass, just a wee bit longer and a few more speakers. If you click the link you can watch and listen to some inspiring videos like we did.
Now will next weekend be as calm and peaceful? I don’t think it will because we have fun times planned!
What would be your ideal peaceful weekend?
