Did you know that more White Stork’s nest in Poland then any other country in Europe?
Well you do now!
About 25% of the White Storks that breed in Europe come here to Poland, roughly about 41,000 couples come here. They spend their winters in Africa(I would too if I had a choice).
Storks build their nests on top of tall trees or building. The people here often times put wagon wheels or such on top of rooftops, barns or tall poles to attract the storks to build their nests close to their homes. Even telephone companies are now putting up special areas on top of poles to support the nests. How big are these nests? They are HUGE! Some nests can be up to 6 feet (2 meters) in diameter and can be up to 9 feet (3 meters) in depth.
The other day we were driving down the road and we saw a White Stork nest and I actually had my camera with me so I could take some pictures.
There were 3 baby storks in this nest. It was fun to watch them interact with each other.
