Does Yard Work Ever End?

Where have I been all week?  My own backyard doing this…

Tuesday was busy sanding away on the bridge, the fence, some lawn furniture or anything else I could sand with my sander!

The other fun thing we did was clean out the koi pond that I have in the yard. You could only see down maybe 2 inches in the water as it was that dirty. So I spent about a day and half draining it. Here the boys are catching the fish before the water get to muddy.

The fish kept just coming. I thought I had about 20 or so in there but we caught 32 of them and I am sure there was more hiding in the plants as we did not totally drain it all out.

I had a kiddie pool set up up to put the fish in while we were cleaning it out.

And here comes another fish.

I don't need a net to catch fish, I can catch them with my own hands.

How deep is this pond? Now time to grab the buckets and get a bunch of this muddy water out.

Someone is tired. Taking a break and soaking his feet in the fresh water that was refilling the pond.

This bench looks so much better already!!

Lunch break time! These guys can sure eat after working hard, 10 buns and 10 tortilla wraps gone between them when they made their sandwiches.

Now that the pond is partially filled time to put the fish back int he pond. Yes, that is how dirty my pond was!

Then yesterday it was time to work the very back part of my yard some more. 26 bags full of garden waste, the back part of the yard is officially done!

Last summer we moved into the house and then spent most of the summer gone so I did not get to do lot in the yard but this summer we are here and that means lots of backyard BBQ parties so no excuses to not get the yard nice.  The yard is half the reason why we choose to rent this house as our family LOVE to be outside as much as possible.

So this weekend I will be busy again in the yard getting the last of the staining done and finishing up the trimming of the main part of the backyard, getting the last of the garden planted and putting some final pretty decorative touches in the yard.  OH, wait it will be time to go to the front yard as I did that about 2 weeks ago and it needs to be worked on again.  Does yard work ever end?

I LOVE summer time and all the yard work that goes with it!

What is your favorite part of your yard?

I like to see people who don’t mind doing that kind of work and putting love into a rental. A lot of my friends ask me why bother? But even if you’re there just a short time, it is your time you’re spending – so why not make it as enjoyable as you can! Having a relaxing and peaceful home environment is so peaceful. Kudos to you and your friends & family! Tell me, do the summers get really hot there? :) Cheers! I haven’t seen too many of your posts lately so it’s good to start seeing some again.

    “Does yard work ever end?”

Nope. I’m trying to find a variety of grass that is fatalistic–one that realizes I’m just going to mow it anyway, so why bother growing any taller than 3″?

No luck so far, so the yard work persists.

I love the house you’re renting! I only have window boxes on a small balcony here. Yard work may never end, but I prefer it to housework. Your efforts are last longer.
