Za Piecem Restaurant

Yes, I love to cook and yes, I love to eat out just as much!

Friday afternoon we headed out for lunch with the last our guests before they head back to the US.  These 2 guests were only here for 2 days for work here in Bydgoszcz so they had no real time to explore or experience the tastes of Poland.  So for their last real meal here in Poland before they headed off to the airport we took them one of my favorite places to eat for some REALLY good Polish food, Za Piecem restaurant.  One of the reasons why I love eating here is not only is the food wonderful, the staff(and the owners) are wonderful and the inside of the restaurant is WONDERFUL as well.

Who's hungry?

During the summer like many people in the city center they to have a great outdoor seating area and today's weather was perfect for sitting out here.

Zurek soup that my husband had. He LOVES this soup. I am assuming it was good as my husband ate the whole bowl and the potato's in 3 minutes flat.

My tasty potato dumplings and saurkraut. These make me a bit homesick for North Dakota!

It was a perfect lunch with friends!

Oh, and if you have to be in the Bydgoszcz area…you need to try their chicken liver & raspberry sauce salad.  I had it a few weeks ago when I was there for another lunch and I am not a liver fan but this salad was an interesting combination but tasted GREAT together.

What is your favorite Polish food to eat? Zurek soup is on the top of my list!

I think my second-biggest surprise from my trip to Poland was the food-really excellent all around, from simple rye bread to big gourmet meals. (The biggest surprise? How much I totally fell in love with the country! I’m ready to move.)

Anyway, Zurek is great; love it in the bread bowl that you then eat.

I have a friend who makes blueberry pierogi, and they are excellent, with some powdered sugar on top.

Hard to pick a favorite–too many choices! I’ll have to go back and do more research…
